So I have a couple types of stuff growing in my pond. I think the underwater stuff is Southern Naiada. I'm not sure what the shoreline and shallow water stuff is. My question is this stuff good to have? Or bad to have? Or is there a middle position where one should have some of this stuff in the pond? Should I try to remove it, by pulling it out of the water? Or should I use chemicals? My pond level has dropped a good 14 inches with the summer well pumping in my area. So I can wade out and pull some of this stuff out while leaving some behind if it is desired. My pond isn't very deep and I don't know what a happy medium is.
This photo has the other grass I've got growing in the shallow areas and along the shoreline. The stuff on the upper left side of the photo. (The stuff in the lower right side of the photo I think is the Naiada stuff.) It is tall and slender. I have no idea what it is and how to control it. Suggestions?
Hard to tell. Could be southern niaid. A lot of your questions can be answered by answering one. Is it an issue for you to fish or enjoy your pond. If it is then you can physical remove some or manage it with herbicides.
The second picture looks like naiad in water and some type of rush out of water. Hard to tell what type of rush without actually looking at it. This is a common plant that grows on pond margins and can be pretty tough to manage it is very hardy.
