255 pound boar hog. Makes # 60 we've taken since november. they are tearing up the place with rooting and have eaten alot of the corn we are planting.

I hear that muskrats will dig holes in the damn. Will they eat fish or cause other trouble?

wayne1, that animal is way too big to be a muskrat. I've never seen a nutria so others will have to comment if it is a nutria or not.

That looks like a nutria to me. If so, you really need to check your dam for damage as well as get rid of any remaining. They destroyed a dam on one of my ponds and significantly damaged another. You simply can not believe the damage they can do to your pond.
Although the "book" says they do not eat fish, I do not believe the "book". Fish skeletons don't read the book either.
Get rid of the nutria or face significant $ damage.

the boar hogs are not too tasty but we have eaten some sow hogs that taste better than the supermarket! We give all the boar hogs away to be eaten so nothing goes to waste. This boar I had the head mounted and since I shot him at midnight and I was by myself I had to leave him in the field. NOt sure he would have been safe to eat the next day.

Oh! NOt seeing any signs of the muskrat/nutrina this must have been the only one. Will keep an eye out. I think it was a muskrat.

Where there's one (nutria at least) there are almost always more. Keep a sharp eye out, especially at night if you can. They do incredible damage.
