we don't have a lot of cats in the pond, but we do have one pretty big one. this is "special", personally named by my youngest after catching it a couple of years ago when both of 'em were a lot smaller. this fine channel cat has always lived up to it's name, providing us with some "special" times and memories each time we catch it. today's reunion was no different. i had to hold on to the little one just to keep her from gettin' pulled into the pond. hopefully this fish will stick around for a few more year's worth of good times like today's.

Yowza! That one makes mine look like a minnow. Details on what it was caught on, length & weight? How old do you estimate it is? Tell her she did a good job getting it in.

thanks for the kind words y'all. we caught the fish on a piece of hot dog. we did not get any weights or measurements. when it's hot, i try to get fish back in the water asap. and this fish is so heavy, i'm afraid i might hurt it if i tried to hang it from a scale. my best guesses are that the fish is probably about 33" long. i'm gonna say probably over 20 lbs. but i could be way off one way or the other. i'm not as good at guessing on cats as i am on bass. as far as age, i don't have a clue. if i had to guess, i'm gonna say that the fish is probably about 6 - 7 years old. the catfish have never really been much more than a diversion / change of pace for me when i want to catch something that will put up a good fight, so i don't keep a lot of 'em in the pond and i don't keep up with them very well.
