the short of it is. 6.5 or so acre lake. heavy bass population few but large CC and BG seem ok with several species. trying to cull bass now and plan to add fathead or shad in spring. would one feeder be enough for a lake of this size and would two bags a month be enough food or do you have to feed heavier to see any difference? thanks.

Your lake is about the same size as mine and probably where mine was 3 years ago when I got it. Go ahead and start culling those bass 12" and smaller. Take out about 150-200 lbs worth. I would take out as many CC as you can. A few is ok but they will eat your bass forage too. I added 2 feeders in my lake but three would cover it much better. I Go through about 2 bags of Aquamax a month and have had awesome bluegill growth. Don't worry about adding fatheads they would just be a quick snack. Try to get yourself some 5-6" bluegill that are big enough that they wouldn't get eaten. Try not to harvest any bluegill for a few years until the forage base is built back up. Threadfin shad may be helpful but they do die if water temps go down to 42 deg. I lost all mine in one pond this past winter. Welcome to the Forum!

scag see my other post. ANy food you use will help. Even if some by hand. Start with one feeder and see if you like the concept. For that size pond jsadn is right you coudl use mutiple but is always about budget. 2 bags a month is abotu right for one feeder. Let us if we can price you a feeder.

Also see my other post. In addition, you get those 5-6" bg, from a farm they might be a lot more pellet ready than existing fish. And when your existing fish see them eat pellets, they may catch on. Yes, get those CC and BCP out. A pond that big could support 2-3 feeders, but only if you have fish ready to eat them. I'd do like Greg says, start off by hand. Then get one feeder. Pellets can be a gradual thing. Get eh bg, make forage cover first. Cull or selective harvest all bass un 12, all cc all bcp.
