I joined this forum back in March, but never introduced myself. I live just north of Bowling Green Oh and have a +/- 3/4 acre pond that is used for recreational fishing and swimming. The pond is about 12 years old but was not stocked until I purchased the property 9 years ago. Current stocking is LMB, bluegill/sunfish of various variety, catfish and maybe some perch still living though I haven's seen them in a few years. I seem that a time goes on, the pond is becoming more work as evident this year with cloudy water and many algae blooms. Water clarity is important to me as well as not having algae scum all around the edges of the pond. This year I am trying GreenClean as my primary algaecide and it is fantastic and expensive but I think it is better than coppersulfate. I am looking forward to any articles about using blue talapia to help control the algae. Enough for now, time to rake the beach.

Did you get any of the tilapia that were available in your area?

Hey, Roy, welcome to Pond Boss! We're glad you found the site and are joining the fun and learning that goes on here! Why not post some pics of your pond when you have a few minutes. We love pics here!

As for tilapia, I know that they seem to be a great option and an awful lot of folks swear by the results. They're absolutely worth giving a try, I think, as they don't appear to have any real downsides for your pond.

I'll be quite interested in your Green Clean experience, as will many, I'm sure, so please keep us posted on how that's working out for you.

Again, welcome, and enjoy the forum!

Bill
I did not get any from IBN this year. I did not know about them until you gave your talk a few months ago at otsego park. I think for the price, I am going to wait as see some other results from this area before I jump in.

Welcome to Pond Boss, Roy.
