I am having trouble getting straight your situation from 2 years ago to now so I will try this which may help some. Go to the link below -MSU pond mgt. book and start on pg.10 -13. There are 2 charts with questions which lead you to an answer to your situation. If you do not have seine results then substitute what you have seen from watching for the seine results. I think that will put the matter in perspective and then tell us what you think. It is often hard to give a good answer to how did I go from this to that with out historical data and seeing the pond to assess it in person.
