Thank you everyone for your input! As you can see, the people that answered this question are moving from CC to HSB.

With either of these species, we must look forward to how we will restock them. If we stock HSB at 30 per acre and restocked 25% each year, that would be 12 per year. These fish would probably have to be 10-12" and cost about $2 each or $24 per year per acre.

We could probably have 100 CC per acre. If we didn't harvest them, they might live to 10 years. Restocking would be 10 per year, again 10-12 inches long at about $2 each or $20 per year.

In our 4-acre lake, I am restocking 50 SMB per year. These are 10-12" and cost $5 each or $250 per year. This would be about $62.50 per acre. This is the most expensive species we restock.

If we have large catch and release mortality, we will have to restock more fish. The use of circle hooks has reduced our mortality greatly.

When we use these species in our lake, we have to plan on restocking. This means going to a fish supplier and saying that we want so many of a particular size. Hopefully these posts will give everyone some idea of what to expect.
