Thanks hawgtusks. I was wondering how much up-force was actually there. Thanks for taking the time to lay it out. Essup, Bolts are not an issue. When I built this dock the city was replacing the telephone poles along a road. The project manager gave me permission to haul off any of the old materials which included a multitude of 18" X 1/2" galvanized bolts, reinforced washers, lock washers and nuts. I was like a kid in a candy store. I am sure that I will be trying a remedy similar to all of the suggestions here. I really appreciate it and knew that I could count on all of you.

Awesome idea! I am always amazed at how some people come up with these ideas....when others (myself) don't see it! Sounds like it just might work!

If you have acsess to a firepump you dig around and under the poles quiete easy and the poles will sink back in by its weight.
All you need is 1,5" pvc pipes long enougf to reach the dept you want.
You clamp the hose to the pipe press the pipe down in the bottom next to the pole and it will flush dig out the soil.

I'm with Brettski and Hawgtusk. I think you may be over analyzing this and they may go right back down when the water recedes. There's a lot of weight there once the water is no longer applying a force upward. I've had this happen with one of my piers that was both flotation and posts driven in.The poles loosened up and the pier shot upward, but all was well again when the water receded (I pumped the water down). Of course I could be wrong but that's my two cents.

You don't have an overflow?

My overflow is 15" in diameter and was completely under water trying to keep up with the massive inflow. The emergency spillway was built only with the house elevation in consideration and was 2" from going over it. This flooding was the worst I've seen since building the pond. I guess I have lots of things to consider before it happens again. I dont think that dock could survive another flood like that in it's current state.

It shouldn't be too difficult to drop the emergency overflow a little by doing some digging. That's all I have on my biggest pond. I don't trust pipes through dams even with collars.

I wish the best for you Blaine. You sure have a beautiful pond there. Having a pond can have a bump in the road now and then but it's all part of the adventure.

Think of the bright side. You now know what you have to do to prevent this from happening in the future. Worse things happen. I know a guy that went out to his pond after a serious massive rainfall the night before. The pond was gone along with the his dyke!

Another massive rainstorm last night. Flooded again. Two historic floods in one week. Dock is battered and crooked but still in place. Glad my dam is massive and no fear of a break.

Blaine, you have all of our sympathy. Two floods in one week. amazing.

Thanks Dave. I am just glad that I didn't start the dock repair yet. The two floods were identical. 3" of rain in about an hours time.
