I've had them now for three complete growing seasons and there has been no reproduction at all. We think they are a terrific eating fish and to insure a steady supply in the pipeline, stock some HSB each spring and fall. That way we have all sizes for fishing and eating. The initial stockings from early spring of '03 are now about 4 pounds.
Todd Overton has a program of growing out HSB to an 8 to 10 inch size for stocking in ponds that have existing LMB populations...this avoids the LMB predation problem with smaller HSB. It�s a good way to go, if you are so inclined.
