i have a sweeney on order and should be here and installed next week. is there anything negative about them at all?
i feed #5 and 6 aquamax.

will the solar charger keep the battery charged so it will feed 3-5 times a day or do you have to charge it from time to time?

I can't find fault with anything related to the Sweeney. I had my first experience with Sweeney's customer service and repair recently. I thought the timer was not functioning properly on one of my three feeders and sent the timer to them. Turns out someone on my end had monkeyed around with one of the settings and I didn't discover it before I sent it back. Although the feeder was about three years old it was under warranty and repaired, cleaned up, etc. and returned without cost, including no shipping charge. It looked like a new timer (although it wasn't).

I also feed 5 and 6 Aquamax.

I have never had to do a supplemental charge on any of the three batteries. I've fed up to six times a day, all season and never touched the batteries, and those are three year old batteries.

Is it largemouth pellet model?

Be sure to charge the new battery before using to be on safe side. Solar chargers will keep it topped off but will not bring up a battery.

My hand me down sweeney (from my father) is a "game" model that works great. The only thing that was an issue was wearing out batteries too soon imo. Dad hooked up a mower battery on a trickle charger to replace the batteries. Never had a problem after that.

If I can remember correctly it seems my batteries have only lasted about two years. The only advice I can give you is try not to let your feeder end up in the pond. Stake it down or better yet screw it down to your dock. Order the dock legs for it. I knocked one feeder off of the dock when the boat hit it in high wind and knocked another one into the water with the tractor while mowing.

i just got my dock legs on today. it came with the other ones, thats all that sep had in stock at the time. i didnt like the wider stance of the bank mount legs, especially since i put it on the corner of my dock. so far, no problems at all with the feeder.
