Great info from the pros above . Pond management can be a lot to learn all at once and sometimes does not seem to be logical. Pondboss has a couple of inexpensive easy to read books on the subject and the South Carolina DNR has a free publication online at

It is a good place to start with S. C. based info. Every pond is different and as Bill Cody reminds us --it all depends-- but it does have good basic info. ewest
