I was just reading RC51's story about catching a tagged bass twice in one day. I figured it would be interesting to hear stories where weird coincidences happened so I started this thread. Here is one of my stories: Was out fishing in my boat last year with a friend. We were fishing on a 7000 acre lake but within a bay about 1/2 mile across. We were drifing and trolling, no anchor, no marker. We were catching a lot of fish and at one point during the catching my small landing net disappeared. Couldn't find it anywhere in the boat so we concluded that it had somehow fallen overboard. About two hours later my brother-in-law hooked a snag. He pulled my net off the bottom. What are the chances of that?
Good story bz here is one kind of like that. We were fihing on a lake and trolling up and down a shoreline. One of dads favorite hook got snagged on something and it broke the line. Well he was a little worked up about it and a few hours later they snagged the same branch and this time they were able to pull the branch up and low and bohold it had his lucky hook in it.
A couple of weeks ago while fishing in my pond, I hooked a fish and the line broke. Last week, I hooked the same fish and landed it this time. It was a HBG. The original hook was deep in the belly and about 3 feet of line was hanging out of its mouth. I did not want them stocked in the pond so it came out for the dinner table.
This should be a good thread. I'm sure there will be some real interesting stories.
Those are cool stories. Here's another: A bunch of my buddies were walleye fishing on a northern MN lake. My buddy caught the only nice walleye that morning and filleted it for shore lunch. He through the carcass in the lake. The next day they were out fishing about a half mile from where we ate shore lunch. The same guy got a hit and set the hook. At first he thought it was a fish but all of a sudden it acted like dead weight. He reeled in to find that he had hooked the filleted carcass of the fish from the day before. He is now known as the guy who catches fish that are already filleted. Saves some time but a little short on the eating. I know this sounds hard to believe but it was the talk of the group when they returned from the trip so I believed them.
A guy was fishing yesterday and a bass broke his line fishing with a jitterbug on a 10 acre lake. I went electrofishing on that same lake today for the guy and low and behold we found the bass with the jitterbug in its mouth.
My dad cought a 2-3lbs Northern pike once and was bringing it in and a 7-8 lbs northern pike bit down on his hooked fish. They got it half in the net and it let go. Well they let some line out and started fighting the smaller np and bringing it in when the same larger Northern attacked again. He brought them both in and netted the two together.
Walleye have been known to hit twice in a day too. Here's a photo of a WE that just broke off my buddy, and I caught the same fish about 15 minutes later. Photo quality is lacking, but you can see the broken off Gulp worm and jig on the left side and the new jig that caught him on the right side. I'd say that's one in a million!

25 years ago we chartered a boat on Lake Michigan. Down riggers, out riggers, it was all decked out to catch co-ho and steelhead. My uncle started getting sea sick and tossed his cookies over the side. Unfortunately, at the same time lost his prescription glasses into the drink. About an hour later I look into the water from the stern and see something flashing. I watch for another 5-10 minutes and realize that the ear piece from his glasses had folded around the down rigger cable and was slowly working itself back to the surface as we trolled. We scrambled to action with our landing nets and successfully worked them off the cable and into our net.

Those almost lost glasses remind me of another story. I was in high school and staying at a friends cabin. His dad was out trying out a new fishing boat and was trying to see what it would do both speed wise and maneuvarability. We were watching from the dock. He hit a large wave and flipped the boat over. Can you believe that the first thing he was concerned about when someone rescued him was his $1000 pair of gold framed sunglasses that went into the drink. Finally the next day just to make him feel better I agreed to take a scuba dive to the bottom of the lake and look for his glasses. We had him take us out, in another boat, to about where he thought he had flipped over. It was out in the middle of the lade and 40 feet of water, no GPS in those days. We stopped the boat, I dove in, swam to the bottom, it was too dark to see anything but when I touched the bottom and swept my hand in a circle the first thing I touched was his glasses. I also managed to salvage a bunch of other stuff that was in the boat but now on the bottom.
What are the chances that some of the stories in this thread could happen? Someone is going to accuse us all of being liars. Maybe that's why we are also fishermen!
Last Saturday I was trapping and relocating forage fish. I tossed some 2 inch GSF and BG in a minnow bucket. Later, I went to the house for a couple of my favorite beverages, a fishing pole and a 4 wheeler. I went to a pond, hooked up a BG and tossed out feed. In about 5 minutes I hooked a pretty nice 13 inch bass with what looked like a water turkey ding on its side. In about 20 minutes, I caught what I would swear is the same stupid bass.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

My wife and I were fishing Reelfoot Lake in TN when she snagged a nice gill from under a cypress tree. when the fish neared the surface, we saw that a mink also had the same fish. After a brief struggle, the the fish came off the hook and escaped the minks grasp, and swam away! No bull!
