My father used dried pig feed in his sweeney "game feeder" to feed the fish on julington creek in jacksonville. The fish tore it up every time it hit the water. You could even see them start hanging out near the feeder twice a day when they knew it was time to feed. Looked like prahanas in a feeding frenzy. He used it due to its ultra low cost v's fish feed. Anyone have an opinion on this? Good, bad, or otherwise? Not sure what name brand it was. I'll see if he remembers.

Quick internet research just showed pig feed is around 20% crude protein and often it contains medications. Conventional fish feed is normally at least 30% crude protein.

many livestock feeds would be readily consumed by fish including dog food. But I have learned here that some feeds contain chicken feathers to up the protein count, which is not digestible by fish. Also feeds that are not fish feed may not be highly digestible. I dont know if these feeds would provide more harm than good, but most pay the extra $$ to get the feeds that benefit the fish the most.
It depends on the fish your trying to feed. Catfish may be fine on just about anything. But LMB need high protein content from a fish base source, something with fish meal as the first ingredient.
bodock is right most animal feeds come in medicated and non medicated forms, probably not the best for fish.
Get out and fish.

Also a quick check indicates that the protein in pig feed is plant based. That is not a great choice for gamefish (BG , LMB , HSB) but is ok for CC and some forage fish. Fish meal or fish oil is best for BG and LMB and HSB.
