I will start this one off

I have an idea of what I want to build but i'd like to see others ideas. It would be nice if I could incorporate someones good ideas along with mine to make a great cooking area. I want a screen enclosed type building with enough room for a picnic table, small table for preping food, and an area with a built in grill and deepfry pot for cooking freshly caught fish. I will make the grill and pot from scratch since I have the tools and metal fab knowledge and want to install them with house brick surrounding each one independant of each other. I was thinking of a polebarn style building in the 10X15 range, screened in with a sink for cleaning fish and two screen doors. One door for entering and the other door exiting directly down the ramp to the fishing dock. All as one unit. Has anyone built something like this? Would you be kind enough to post a few pictures and or share ideas?

You would have to post this, now I gotta build one too! I had toyed with the idea but you described it better than I had envisioned. I had thought half screened-half open with a roof over the dock to fish under when it rains, I think Brettski has a dock very similar to that. I never thought of a built in fry area and grill though, now I will have to build those as well. Probably run some electric to it for lights and a small fridge for party use,maybe even an extra insulated home made cooler with a built in drain for kegs/cases on ice. If I'm going to run electric to it, I suppose I can install my air pump there and a trickle charging system to make DC power to keep feeder batteries charged....all this stuff could be built into bench seats to keep it out of sight and give your finished area a clean look.

Joe, I'm pretty sure Bretski posted pictures recently and it was similar but not quite what i had in mind. But your getting the idea! When I installed the areator pipe underground (ran from my barn), I put in a water line and 220 volt power in the same trench so I could build this in the future. All of this runs to a 4x4 post in the ground with an outside power box so i can split it down to 110 volts w/o having any voltage drop due to the distance. The water usage is obvious and the areator runs in the pond from there. I use a sweeney to feed with and it runs off of a lawn mower battery set up on a trickle charger ( i got tired of the aa batteries) and having power is a must at the pond. I want to run a ceiling fan, fridge, maybe lights during christmas, and so forth. Just a nice place to hang out and have friends/family over for fishing, social parties, eating freshly caught fish.

I have been telling my wife we would use a structure like that more than we would use a larger deck added on to the house. The current deck will hold 4 chairs comfortably, the new building would be a nice shelter for picnics and fishing, etc. I have to decide on the under water supports I guess to get started, I plan to cantilever my roof so you have no casting obstructions when you side arm it...

I have a similar dream except it would be a lean-to off of a future building. I was planning to leave it open, shelter house style with the possibility of adding screen drapes should the bugs become a problem. Having the same features you mentioned and a stone fireplace with built in oven. Plenty of stainless steel for the appliances and concrete countertops. Would like to be able to powerwash the whole area. Ceiling mounted radiant heat would be nice too.
