I currently have 2 texas hunter feeders on my 5 acre pond. With the great deal going on a moultree im thinking of adding another. How many feeders should I have on a five acre pond?

I'd like to know the answer to that, too. I recently installed 4 TH feeders on my 7.5 acre pond and hope that's enough. I just filled them with 20 bags of Aquamax 400 at $33 a throw; this pond management thing is getting awfully expensive.

Yeah I get Aquamax for $28 a bag with two feeders and it still gets expensive. But im seeing some amazing results from the Aquamax. Heck game fish chow is $22 a bag so whats 6 more bucks when you get that much better of a feed. Your pond must be fairly new for you to be feeding 400. I feed 500 and 600. I haven't tried the 400 yet but I can bet the pellets are tiny.

I just put 2-3" CNBG, RES and FHM & GS in the pond late last fall. The pellets are tiny but so are my fish.

I Guess nobody knows the answer to our question. I guess the answer is as many as you can afford.

Bodock, I have 3" bluegill that are eating 500 just fine. You may be able to go ahead and move up to 500. I think the 500 was cheaper than the 400 by a few bucks or maybe mix the 2 sizes together.

No expert here but some thoughts as my pond is 5 arces too.

Noticed last year with one feeder on pond fish were largest about 40 feet either side of feeder. Actually the largest LMB are directly in front up next to feeder. Then out another 40 feet they were smaller yet larger than further down shore line. After 100 foot the fish were same size in general else where in pond. This observation hold true to distance fish will travel to feeder as read here on this forum few times.

If you take those distances times length of your shoreline well that's a lot of feeders. The cost to feed would be out of sight too and one might be getting into other capacity issues like dissolved oxygen etc..

Someplace in past read one per acre is recommended! What I�ve tried to do this year is identity an area that younger fish are feeding smaller pellets and add two feeders with larger pellets. In general all four sides of pond have a feeder and one of shallow fingers has one.

Probably the more important factor is to feed all size fish in other words get them started young!

I have a forage pond that is somewhere between 1/10 and 1/4 acre. Size depends on rain. I hand feed and walk all the way around the pond tossing feed. Mine won't move 50 ft. to feed.

Guys it depends on lots of factors. The standard guidline is one feeder for 2-3 acres. The fish will move for food. Population density , pond shape and depth , types of fish , size of fish , number and amount of feed dispersed , time of year , other food to eat and amount all effect the question. Plus the goals of the owner play a big part on feeding.
