From my reading, it seems you would want to promote a bass heavy pond. They tend to have tons of 12-14 inch bass and big bluegills.
Also as I understand it, many ponds go this way naturally and is a fairly easy way to manage.
Also, may be time to upgrade from the barbie pole. ha ha.
