Not too many people that I personally know have become legends in their own lifetime. There is however one person who has not only been an inspiration to me, but has become a living legend to many here as well as across the world. His life, family, fish, adventures, experiments, ingenuity, and stories have simply captivated me.

George with his Private Water Texas State Record Hybrid Striped Bass:

George's catch of a lifetime:

I would like help in compiling all of George's pictures, stories, adventures etc into this thread. There is a ton of stuff floating around Pond Boss that needs to be organized here. I have quite a bit more content from some recent conversations with George that I will be posting over the next several days as well, but do look forward to everyone else's George thoughts, pics, and stories...

Back at the pond boss conference in Arlington, I had the priviledge of meeting George in person and not only did he answer all my questions, but he took me and a few others out for a private flyfishing lesson that I will never forget.

I haven't had the fortunate opportunity to meet George, but he's offered me advice on fly tying and encouragement countless times on the forum. I would like to second Nate's homage to George - we are blessed to have his presence and guidance on the forum. Cheers, George!

I know George on a more personal basis than most here but those are personal observations not to be publicly shared.

Suffice it to say that he has been a giant in several areas with Texas roots that go back a long way.

You're right Nate. He's a very fascinating guy that I'm proud to call a friend. Also a very committed family man.

Among many other things, he is credited in fly tying circles for developing the spinster.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I forgot to mention the flies. Were gonna need all the fly concoction pictures as well... I'm looking forward to using one for the traveling lure adventure, and am even going to use my fly rod with it.

George is known internationally as an innovator in fishing and fly tying. He developed the spinster quite a few years back for his own use. A notable fly fishing expert asked him to make his new toys public.

If you Google George Glazener Spinster you will find references to his lure design in quite a few publications including web sites from Japan and Australia. Probably some others.

BTW, he has an assistant to help him pick just the right colors. You see, the famous George is color blind and his Wife is the real brains behind his creativity. Without her, he's just another guy using a sissy stick to catch big fish.

N8ly like DD1 said much is private between George and I . I am not going to try and list all the superlatives and traits that describe George. When you are lucky enough to have a friend like George then that is enough and not much has to be said . There is not enough room on this thread to post it all but here is some non-private info. I will add more later.

George's Flies and how to make them are at the links below.

One of my most favorite moments of the PB2 conference was taking fly fishing lessons from George. George made it a point to walk up to Ricki and I and thank us for traveling from California to go to the Pond Boss conference in Texas. He instantly made us feel welcomed and part of the PB family. It was our distinct honor to meet George and the icing on the cake was to win the set of three shadow box of lures at the auction. Plus he named one of his sons Jeff which of course demonstrates an extremely high level of intelligence. \:D
