The ponds' water temp this evening @ 7:00 p.m. Central time was 60� at 6" and 55� at 3'. The trout are feeding better than they were during the winter, and the BG are sitting in the top 6" of water soaking up the warm sun. There are FHM in the shallows, and the GSH are hanging around the cage. Every once in a while, a LMB will come out of the depth and take a swipe at the minnows.

The Golden Trout are still more aggressive towards lures than the Rainbows. At least I can see them easier, and I can yank the lure away from them. I stocked 3x more RBT than Goldens, and want to try and go into summer with an equal number of both.

Unlike Dwight, my pond has only come up 4" from it's Winter low.

60 degree water is still a dream in these parts.

The FA is liking it. It's starting to float up from the bottom.

Just wait Scott, by morning we are suppose to have snow on the ground, that should lower that water temperature

It looks that way! I was supposed to meet a few buddies at the local Sporting Clays Range tomorrow, but they're calling for a high of 37� and rain/sleet/snow, so I doubt that I'll be going.

The Biggest Pond in the front (.62 acres) was 53 F. around the same time as you Scot. It was 53 on the surface all the way down to about 8 feet where it dropped to 48.9 F. The former trout pond was 55 on the surface which is still filling with well water. I put about 400 male perch in there today. As soon as tomorrow I will be catching females from the big pond and putting them into the same pond along with staked bush branches.

As we still have ice, I guess y'all can guess our water temps!

60.2 on the surface and 56.7 a couple of feet down last night.

I was at my place yesterday but forgot to check the temp. However, it was 73 degrees air temp and has been beautiful weather this week.

It's snowing right now.

Pond temp is 40 top to bottom other than that pesky ice pack sitting out there.

That is swimming condition for you guys.

I checked the temp again this evening, 6" below the surface was 60.8�, 3' down was 59.1�. The LMB are more active chasing minnows in the shallows, and the FA has increased by 100% with new growth showing on the bottom in shallow water. They're calling for 80� ambient temp tomorrow. Water clarity is still over 4'.

I caught a 15" RBT tonight for dinner and a chunky LMB that was about 17" was following the trout wherever it went. Maybe seeing what the fuss was all about?

The cage netting is pretty well covered with algae, it'll get a scrubbing tomorrow.

I really hope Rex is planning on a trip this way before Mothers Day, the Tilapia will have a full buffet laid out for them by then.

Those temps are interesting to me. I checked on 3/31 and my surface temp was around 50 degrees in the evening. I do have water still coming into the pond. There is a constant flow leaving the overflow pipe. That is probably why my temps are not going up as fast even though we are so close to each other. I think I have some springs and maybe a field tile that is feeding the pond.

Last night I was up to 56 degrees.

Glad to see I'm not the only one out there scrutinizing the water temps!
Our ice left completely on March 21st. On the 24th, the temperature was 43 deg.
Today, it was up to 54 deg. This is on the surface and also about 3 feet down. Air temps were close to 80 deg. today!
I'm sure the depths are still quite cold as 46 deg. spring water flows continually into the pond.
If this keeps up, we should be swimming by May 24th week-end! As soon as it hits 73 deg., I'm in!

It's got to be 80 F. for me to swim. Anything else and I'm freezing when I first get in!

I suspect you mean for you to VOLUNTARILY swim!

I couldn't help myself and had to check the pond temp today. 68.8� at the surface and 64.4� at 3' depth. More BG are feeding, all sizes of LBM are chasing minnows in the shallows. The FA is really going to town as well, I'm estimating 20% coverage. There are mats 10' x 20' where the wind drove it to the shore.

72� out now, and a predicted 79� tomorrow. It broke into the 80's for 2 days last week.

65 degrees surface temp on mine. I didn't check deeper.

74.6 here in nc. been 85 plus for several days.

Michigan temp one foot down is 62˚. 4 days in the 70's

reading around 75 on an old cheap plastic thermometer but, we've had about the same weather as DocG reports.

Lots of activity - I'm thinking we're well into pre-spawn.

65 at surface and 50 at 5 foot deep. This was at 11:00 when it was about 85.

Boy if I can get my water quality up I might be able to over summer trout!

Mine was 55 at 3' deep last Friday.
