like pondfrog, i dont mind the FA either as long as it doesnt cover the whole pond which it never has. i do aerate, and i think that is key to helping reduce it. at most maybe 10 to 15% of pond gets FA in the spring, and the aeration keeps the dead floating mats pushed towards the shorelines.. i've noticed the mosquito fish, YOY, and frogs (lots of big bullforgs) use it for cover until it sinks. it probably acts as a good substrate for early spring insects as well.

I like the idea of the bacteria, but based on these prices, even for my small pond, I'd be looking at thousands of dollars to treat it.

The greenclean obviously does not fix the problem, but at about five bucks per application, vs. $2,000, it seems like a pretty good option. The FA in my pond covers maybe 5%, so it's not a major issue.

Are there any bacteria products for larger ponds that won't break the bank?
