Ed, if your neighbor is referring to "mudcats", they're nothing but trouble. They can grow up in a hurry and take over a pond, the size of an adult is 8-12", they are a nightmare to remove. Get busy fast, or you could be in for years of fishing them out. This is a real THREAT to your pond ! Surely one of the pros on this board can relate to the trouble they cause, and probably assist with removal tactics.
