I went down to the pond yesterday and heard a horrible crunching sound....there are two of them in there...I returned with a Otter disabler and they wouldn't poke their heads up. They swam right up to me this morning, but I had to come back to town...ugh!

See what happens when you set the table for dinner? Guests show up even if they aren't invited. I see 2 options, lead at a quick velocity or steel at a much slower velocity, either a bodygrip or a leg hold, attached to a drowning cable slide.

I recently saw something about otters on the news. River otters have been seen in Texas and the Biologists are excited about them making a comeback. Pond owners,I'm sure, probably aren't all that enthusiastic.

I think I would probably eliminate them before the TPWD gets giddy enough to put them on the endangered species list.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

That crunching you heard was otter teeth on a BG or LMB - usually in prime condition. Only later do you find out they only ate a third of it before they went back for another. As Cecil says - SSS.

Man, he's big too. Are adult otters usually that big?

Yeah, they aren't a tiny animal... They are pretty common around my dad's house on the Chesapeake Bay. He just got into trapping big time this year and is trying like the dickens to catch one without any luck yet. He is hammering the heck out of the muskrats, coons and gray foxes though.
