I guess you know the obvious advanatge to me is that many cities(sadly) have ordinance forbidding discharge of firearm and air gun can can get around this.
Thankfully a few years back Virginia passed a law stating that no local firearm ordinances could be more restrictive than state law. Sure ticked off a lot of places off, but boy did it give a lot of people their rights back...
