I remain convinced the Curling was invented by some very clever Canadians as an excuse to drink beer when it was too cold for bowling alleys to be open.
Having grown up as a Scandahoovian-Pollock with serious curling experience, and having to decide to go curling, bowling, or to hockey practice on cold winter Saturday mornings -- as I know it -- curling was invented by the Scots (aka Scotch -- like in single malt).
