I don't know who told you bluegills are piranhas but they aren't even close. They really don't have teeth to speak of and the only time I've had them nibble is at the hairs on my legs when I stand on the swim ladder motionless. Once you move they get scared away.

Actually the only time I've seen them nibble regularly is when they are overpopulated and starving. But still then it's not a big deal.

I'll take bluegills over swimmer's itch (duck itch) any day.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
