I doubt if he'll be able to find pinks or any pacific salmon to stock in New Brunswick. Most likely landlocks will be the only thing he can get locally. It wouldn't surprise me if pacific salmon are not permitted there either.
For all intensive purposes landlocks and atlantics are very similar to brown trout and are closely related. They are quite acrobatic and I doubt you'll land everyone you hook.

Have you tried brooks? I've gotten them to over 3 lbs. as only 2 year old fish. 19 1/4 inches. Unfortunately my pond should be cooler for the brooks although browns do really well in the pond.
