Occasionally I go "nightstalking" for crappie. Once or twice we have has shad come to our lights and they would be an easy target to be scooped in a net. My question is would it be safe to scoop some shad and put them in the pond for a snack for the bass and crappie?

Several questions to think about. Will that result in transferring unwanted germs/viruses etc to the pond ? Can you id the items captured to be sure they are TShad and not GShad or some other unwanted type. I would not put GShad in a pond except in circumstances where you have a large population of very large LMB.

Handling Tshad is tough. You can dip them up but the chance of them living isn't very great. They are awfully delicate.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
