Hello all!

Sorry it has been so long between posts! The pond and the fish are all doing great thanks to the advice and knowledge gained here! The new pond is still on the drawing board due to an excessively wet year!

Here is what we need and the info I am looking for I just bought two of theses pumps http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2009120207034227&item=4-1669&catname=air
And I want to use them to keep two flood and shoot water fowl impounds from freezing up in Jan and Feb so we can hunt snow geese.

The run is 3500 what size pipe should I run for the least amount of friction loss and to get the most CFM, and what would you use to keep the pond open? In my fish pond I use membrane diffusers but I have enough depth to get an upwelling but the water fowl ponds are only 12 to 18 inches deep? I was thinking soaker hose? Can I run the two pumps in tandem and increase my total CFM? Thanks in advance

At 4 CFM, if you run 1.5" PVC, the PSI increase will be about 0.35. If you move up to 2' it will be virtually no PSI change from friction. I think soaker hose or anything that produces a course bubble will work. And yes you can run them in tandem but that will increase PSI by about 1.75 for 1.5" PVC, and 0.7 for 2". The friction loss shouldn't be a problem if your only aerating in 18" water.
