Mason looks sad to leave and unsure of what the future will bring. Understandable considering his background of being discarded and a shelter dog. No doubt he's in for a pleasant surprise.

My dog still goes bonkers when I get back home as if she's afraid I won't come back. I hear that's typical for shelter dogs.

Rainman you're a good man, and so are the rest of the people that made this happen, and of course the new owners!

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Thank you so much Rex for the update, pictures, and of course for helping Mason get to his final destination ~ a real home!! I love the picture where he is looking out of the driver's window of your truck ~ you should replace your signature picture with that one!!

Bing, how did the trout-tossing go?

Did you see any of my smallies?

Very impressive trout. I fished Missouri's put and take streams for years and never came close to the size of some we put in today. I'd say there was at least one over four #.

Only two of the 50 we put in hung around the dock for more than a few seconds. They looked healthy and took off as soon as they hit the water.

I fired off the feeder as soon as they were in the lake, but no immediate takers.

No, I never saw your fish. I didn't ask him to take them out of the tanks, and that truck is pretty tall for my climbing skills.

Today is the first day of shotgun deer season and right after Rain pulled away the four hunters I let hunt here came out of the woods with four deer. One doe and three bucks to 11 points. Mary, the state forester who is one of the hunters got an 11 last year, and her 16 year old nephew got the 11 this year. They still have four tags to fill.

Mason was too busy supervising. Someone has to be in charge.

Glad Mason is finding his place. Did you find him as sweet and adorable as I did Bing?

Anna,Bing and all! Mason (and Rex)just left here (NW Ohio) after a fish drop and are headed for Columbus to meet up with HL. Should be there before 10PM. Rex and I tossed fish for 30 minutes and Terri kept Mason company. Mason headed for the pond for a long cool drink and I believe would of gone for a swim if it wasnt for needing to make one more stop. What a wonderful ole boy he is !!This has been a great story with a great beginning.

Rex, at this time of year, you should have worn a Santa Claus costume for the pics.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I thought we would have had an update on thier arrival by now.Maybe Mason has them both locked in the basement and is demanding a new flyrod for thier release.

Did Rex give you the care package that I made up or did he "accidentally" keep it for himself?

esshup, he did give me the package.

I've been eating the Jalapeno-Cheese Deer stick (I'm going out to eat with my wife & friends tonight, and I've had like ten pieces. I think I might just drink at dinner!).

I really can't even express how nice that was for you to do, esshup.

Look at what esshup sent along with Rainman:

I'm inclined to state the award for Best Deer Stick 2009 right now, and NO, it's not because esshup's is the only submittal. It is awesome!

Here are some pics from "A day with Rex."

We stocked (200) SMB ranging from 6-12", (20) RES around 8-9", (20) CC around 1-2 lbs. each, and 100 lbs. of 4" Golden Shiners.

I only took a few pics and they're not that great:

After the stocking, we fished for a while, but all we could catch were some measely HSB, but Rex has those pics on his camera.

Rex had the grand pleasure of meeting my caretaker Ken. Rainman also had the pleasure of meeting Ken's wife, Tammy. Rainman went on further to have the pleasure of witnessing a domestic dispute between Ken and Tammy, as I did also. Don't fret, though,....the two lovebirds have patched things up.

Great day with great people. Wivell and his son Austin were going to come but couldn't make it in the end.

I'll say - no Redears. Good looking Smallies, though.

Sunil:

Those are some really nice looking fish, and the pond looks pretty good as well!

I'm glad that you got the package, I was worried that they might have been forgotten on the truck! (or given to another one of Rex's customers like he does with fish!)

The two packages of Hunter Cheese sticks are basically the same flavor as the Jalapeno & Cheese except no jalapeno. I thought I had some summer sausage from another processor, but that's all gone (until I take some meat in and have more made).

Hope I didn't spoil your dinner!
