If he was like me, it is because we said it so many times. Dad says he used to shoot rabbits with an M1 Carbine while on guard duty. Within 5 minutes of the shot, a German would show up on a bicycle with a covered basket, take a beer out of the basket, trade it for the rabbit, then peddle off again.
