Last year when I tried this the water near the discharge was about 40 F. Not a big improvement...but enough to maybe take the edge off for a shellcracker. The other side of the pond had ice, so we know how cold that is. You could be right. My knowledge of shellcrackers about equals my knowledge on alligators. Holding a redear sunfish is like running with scissors.
