1. I am NOT building a TROPHY catfish pond. I just want to find peoples views and gather info. Questions for building a trophy catfish pond. 1. What catfish? 2. What baitfish(food)? 3. Baitfish:
These baitfish come from several hatcheries.
1. Gizzard shad
2. golden shiner
4. threadfin shad
5. bluegill

Habitat:

Check out the other thread on growing trophy catfish that is currently active. My recommendations there are the same. I wouldn't put any cover in the pond that could encourage the catfish to naturally reproduce in the pond though. I would want to control the population through stocking and fishing totally.

I think trophy catfish would be quite easy if you feed them pellets and have good water quality. I would strongly suggest one stay with channel catfish though. The other two species are very predacious and can wipe out more desirable species of fish.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
