Depends what your goals are for your pond. If you want a lot of waterfowl, pheasants, and other ground nesting species around; you could consider removing some of the furbearing animals that feast on the eggs and young of birds. Skunks and possums seem to be worse than Coon, IMO, because they hunt around water but rarely in it, so they encounter nests more often than Coons who are most often right down at or in the water. It rarely hurts to remove a few of the above mentioned animals from the population anyway as they are species that are commonly effected badly when a disease enters the population. That being said, you have to really decide what you are ok with and what is crossing the line for your goals for the habitat.
