I let some pond water age 4 days, and here's what I got.
Left to right
"pure" pond water ~5% settled
metal chips ~25% settled
A pinch of table salt ~99% settled (worked very quickly)
Having tested many other things, I've found that most substances which readlily dissolve in water will have at least some effect on clearing.
Most potent thing I've found so far is Sulphuric acid (H2SO4). Acetic acid (CH3COO4) is also pretty potent. Haven't tried hydrochloric(HCL), which should also work well.
It appears that old cars and other scrap metal would work, albeit more slowly, similar to ag lime.
Next up: fish hooks, aspirin, and Mountain Dew.
Any ideas for something more practical to test?
