still trying to get these big goldfish out of the pond.. i caught about 20 in an hour on a white hair jig yesterday.

what is the easiest way to add the picture on here without it being a link?? cant remember.. i tried the thumbnail trick that someone posted on here in another post, but dont like how it shows the small pic...

When in photobucket, run your cursor over the pic you like the pop up box will pop up, run the cursor down to the last option, cut and then paste that one into where you want the pic to display...

That goldfish is huge! Ultra light tackle, I but they put up a good fight. I usually shoot a few overgrown goldfish a year while bowfishing the Potomac. They are thick in spots. They do spawn a lot but I think most of their young get gobbled up. The big colored ones are pet releases that were already too bad for the average bass to eat.

yea the goldfish are fun to catch, just wish i didnt have some many in the pond. some are pushing 10" and have only been in there a year.. started with eleven and that turned into thousands within a few months. the bass have taken a toll on them, the remaining ones are all huge..

This is why I worry when someone wants to use GF for bass forage.

i saw them running each other and rolling in the shallow water a few months ago, but no sign of babies yet..i think the predators are keeping them in check..

makes my wonder why they are so easy to catch on artificial bait though, reckon they eat young bg?

I am sure a few young BG fry will get sucked up by goldfish. BG fry are about as helpless as they come... I think goldfish as forage are decent if you have some larger bass in the pond. Say ones 18" and larger who can swallow all but the largest of goldfish who then become your sustaining brooders.

Gold fish are just fancy carp. Big orange carp. I raise Koi and Goldies and you wouldn't believe the number of people that want them as bait on the river.I won't give them any for bait. That is not good for the river. They probbly won't survive, but I won't take that chance. The other thing about Koi and Goldfish is that they root around so much, the water is always dirty looking. They keep the bottom and sides of the pond stirred up, depending on how deep it is.
