How would saugeye do in a small pond?
And can you even get them for ponds?

There's an 800 acre lake near me with very shallow water - average depth is maybe 5 feet - which gets quite warm in the Summer (and muddy, too, from recreational boating). Saugeye seem to do really well in there, which has always lead me to believe they would do pretty well in small ponds, too.
I haven't ever found them available commercially, however. Ohio and IIRC other state hatcheries/fish agencies are tending to de-emphasize Saugeye due to concerns with their back-crossing with Saugers and/or Walleyes and messing up the native fishs' gene pools. And I'm not sure they've ever been crossed by private hatcheries.

They are in a lot of the rivers around Western PA.

I know PA, WV and OH stock them.
I live in NC and they're not stocked down here.
Thanks for the info.
Interesting they can tolerate muddy water better than walleye or sauger.

the IL river has bunches of them they get pretty big but i have no clue bout how they would do in a small pond if you try them i would like to hear bout the results
0.22 acre dam pond LMB, BG, and CC
