Dave,

Please keep in mind that your Dad is definitely in a better place. I didn't have the honor of knowing him, but reading all these tributes makes me certain I missed out on knowing a very special man. I lost my Dad last January. At the risk of hijacking this thread (certainly not my intention), I feel compelled to tell everyone what happened a couple of days before my Dad died. He was in a hospice home, and had not spoken in more than a whisper for days. All of a sudden he started saying "I see it, I see it. It's more beautiful than I could ever have imagined". As he was saying this, his voice was getting louder and louder, so loud in fact that nurses came into the room. And then, with tears of joy rolling down his cheeks, he said the Lord's Prayer. When he finished the Lord's Prayer, believe it or not, he started hollering "hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray" at the top of his lungs. How cool is that? Is was a gift to us...talk about giving us peace! Again, please take comfort in knowing where your Dad is, and that you will see him again.

What a great story, Tom, and what a blessing! And what a witness your dad was until the very end.

My dad and I were extremely close. In fact, I stopped by and chatted with him on my way home the night he passed away. Being close to him--in some ways--makes it easier. I know where he is and I know how much we both loved each other.

We will both see our dads again someday...what a day of rejoicing that will be!

Evidently your dad touched a lot of lives and to me that is what it is all about. Your dad must of been a caring and religious individual. we are presently working with a very nice guy with cancer and reports say his time could be limited. We set up a telephone call system to keep up his spirits. We can telephone and you can tell he is down but after we talk his spirits are lifted. We have our work cut out for us but just like your dad we will proceed and pass on joy to others. Your dad must of been one heck of a good guy.
