There's an 800 acre lake near me with very shallow water - average depth is maybe 5 feet - which gets quite warm in the Summer (and muddy, too, from recreational boating). Saugeye seem to do really well in there, which has always lead me to believe they would do pretty well in small ponds, too.

I haven't ever found them available commercially, however. Ohio and IIRC other state hatcheries/fish agencies are tending to de-emphasize Saugeye due to concerns with their back-crossing with Saugers and/or Walleyes and messing up the native fishs' gene pools. And I'm not sure they've ever been crossed by private hatcheries.
