BTW Bruce you ever tried GC of that size? I was told abotu 6 years ago they are good so I ate one and cut out blood line as you mention. It was excellent. Next time it was from a giant like Theo's. I swear it tasted just like mud. I have not had the courage to go back and try one since. I think now you have motivated me to clean and eat the next time I kill one of our 12 inch stockers which happens about weekly it seems. My dog is not going to be happy GC are his favorite as well.
