Ok just updating my Bass growout ponds i started this year.
PER ACRE~
March:
20 lbs FH's
100 3-6 CNBG

May:
20 lbs Tilapia

June: 200 2" Florida bass


Ok, I fertilized the pond from March untill June. The FH's spawned successfully and were visable by the 10000's. Before i stocked the Tilapia I saw a few 1" CNBG fingerlings along the bank. Since then the Tilapia have had several successfull spawns with the first YOY around 2" long already.

However, I don't seem to see any fingerling CNBG now. they appear to all just be Tilapia.

Only thing I can think of is they moved to a little deeper water. I will say one thing the Tilapia fingerlings have really cleaned house on the pond bottom. They are eating everything.

Reason Im a little concerned is next year I will add Tilapia again but I would like to have a lot of CNBG ready to spawn next year insteatd of only the 100 that I have now.

I can always add more next March at 3-6" but I was hoping the origanal 100 would take care of that for free.

I think the CNBG would have been safe from LMB predation. 100/acre is not a lot and I suspect you are just missing them. They may well be deep now.

Spawning prospects I will leave for a gulf states PM to evealuate.

I would bet that they have spawned and moved to deep water. Have you seen any BG beds ? Are you feeding pellets ?

Im hand feeding the original stockers and they are taking feed. I ordered a bag of aquamax 400 which is coming in next thursday. I have a feeling though the tilapia fingerlings will be eating most of that though due to their large numbers.

I never really saw any beds but due to the fertilized water for the past months and now it is a little murky from the cattle watering and little vegetation its hard to see out into the water very well.

Ewest, when you say moved to deeper water I guess your meaning the YOY CNBG right? That was my original thoughts but I didn't really know that small fish like these would dare go out into the deeper water where the 200 Floridas are surely staged.

I may try to pull a seine in the spot where im throwing the Gamefish chow.

I just did a quick walk-around of the 1 acre pond. If it wasn't so hard to see... I think I might see the CNBG but all are around 1". Would this be the proper size YOY this time of year?

Pretty hard to tell though- 1" tilapia vs. 1" BG in slightly murky water haulin' butt away from the shore.

1" would be typical for YOY BG this time of year.

Thanks for the input, my aqua 400 is coming in next thursday, i think i'll just walk around the bank and toss small amounts all the way around. I'd like to have them eating Game Fish Chow by the time the season ends. Im keeping my fingers crossed that they'll grow up to 3-4 in that time.
