SM bass throughout their entire life span will live and thrive better in warmer waters than yellow perch. It is especially true if you buy your SMB from a hatchery that has been raising SMB for several generations in shallower ponds. Some large old perch often die during the hottest part of the summer. I have never seen this happen with SMB.
