Hello everyone first time poster long time reader. I'll try to make this short. Here's my situation my family has 2 ponds located in south central Georgia not far from that hatchery yall talk about(not in a good way). One pond is a little over 2 acres the other a little over 1 acre in the 2007 drought(the "I never seen it this bad ever" pops) both ponds dried up to mere small pools of water. Should have poisoned the water but that is another story. The larger pond lost all of the lmb, and the smaller one was only stocked with minnows and crappie(my brothers idea before I knew about pond boss). Now fast forward the larger pond has BG in size from 1" to 10 and I have seen baby bullheads that went out the overflow pipe so there must be larger ones still in it and a ton of minnows, crayfish, tadpoles & frogs. The smaller pond has crappie I caught from 5 to 15"(lost about 300 in 1-2"er's in the spring rains from overflow pipe THANKYOU!!) range with all the same forage as larger pond. I go to the ponds every 2 weeks so I have been moving BG to the smaller pond. I don't know anybody close or have time to cull LMB from to put in the ponds. Now after all that my 3 questions are: will 1-2 inch bass have a chance that's the only size THAT hatchery sells and #2 does anybody ships via ups or fed x or delivers larger sizes in my area loc Ocilla, GA, and last what size would you go with. 1-2 inch bass wouldn't stant a chance you need to get at least 12 inch bass so they will survive. LMB 6" or longer should be fine - it would take a hell of a crappie to eat a 6" bass. 8-10" is a size that many hatcheries offer later in the year, and that size would definitely be okay. Greg should be able to hook you up, and he's based out of GA so he's probably be your best bet.

Call Greg. Yes there are hatcheries that ship 2 in LMB overnight. The stocking of 2 inch LMB into a pond with adult fish is possible but is not the best idea. If there are no adult LMB in the pond you could expect about 5 to 10 % survival of newly stocked 2 in. LMB if they are properly habituated (protected for about a day after stocking http://www.pondboss.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=22246&fpart=1). Adults would be better because you would not be rolling the dice on highly variable survival rates. If you got 20 % survival rather than 10 you would quickly be LMB crowded. Plus the cost is less. You would only need about 40 adult LMB (10-12 inches). Make sure you get some males and females in each pond.

You have any local fishing holes besides the ponds you frequent? I would find a friend w/ a pond or public fishery that needs some of their LMB population culled. You will want to look the fish over pretty good and make sure they are healthy. Be careful handling them and move them in small groups to your pond. I would probably wait to the water cools down in the fall.

That should do the trick, or you can pay a small fortune for adult bass. I prefer the former, but that's just me. I put three adult bass in my pond this spring from a small lake 2 miles from my pond.
