I would suggest, if you have not already done so, search the posts on the forum, I am sure this question has been answered in the past. There are generally 3 choices, chemical, physical and natural.
You mentioned one of the chemical ways, raking is one of the physical ways and fish that eat algae and/or plants one of the natural ways.
See if there is a tilapia supplier in your state and read up on grass carp.
