Hello Fish folks, was wondering what you guys think of my stocking: 100 blk. crappie,100 hyb blg,100 lmb,100 yp, 15 lbs. of fhm...stocked 2mo. ago and the fh. are spawning...I have been feeding the small pellets,(some I put in a blender),the ish all seem to be doing o.k. 1.5 to 2ac. pond. All the fish were 3-4", except the fh, my question is will the yp. reproduce enough to feed the predators,i know the blk cr. are sporadic spawners...is this a good combination?? Should I add other fish? Goal is to have a diverse population, good fishing, etc...well,thanks for your response in advance, appreciate any feedback.

BuckeyeRanman, one question and then some comments. How much time, effort and money are you willing to spend on your lake?
I personally would add pure BG and RES if they can make it in your area. I like the HBG for fishing and the BG for forage. Others can make better recommendations for numbers of BG to stock but to me, you should add at least 100 6-8 inch BG AND 3-400 3-5 inch BG. 100 RES. You want a good, established BG forage base quickly.
Your YP are unlikely to survive when your LMB get bigger. They are just too easy for LMB to eat.
IMO, the key to crappie is to have enough predators to hit them hard on that odd year when they do reproduce. Most big fish eat little fish. Your larger BCR, LMB, HBG and BG will all eat little BCR.
You don't have the makings of a trophy LMB lake but certainly can have an outstanding fishery.
Our lake is entering its 7th year now (hard to believe). We have lots of good sized fish but the star by far, are the HBG. They are 9 1/2 to 10 1/2 inches long, heavy, beautiful, very agressive and fight very hard. I wouldn't want to have to catch just one species but if I did, it would be between the HBG and the HSB.
Good luck on your lake!
