Pond Boss Forums MANAGING AN EXISTING POND Feeding Fish Meal

I service a Pogie plant in La. and was able to snag a bag of pure ground fish meal. I was wondering what damage or benefit this fish meal would provide to my fish. I beleive that this stuff is like cocaine to a drugy, if I am not mistaken, pretty potent. Presently have a 1/3 acre with 8ft of water (18ft when full). Texas is pretty dry this time of year and I can't seem to get it to full, new tank. Contains 100 CC, 200 BG and FHM.
If the comments are positive, I can snag some bags for personal use when I service the company. Thanks for any input.
I was also going to try and clear up this new pond due to the clay turbitidy, but figure the clarity is keeping my water cold in this 105 F plus weather we are having. Any thoughts?.

Fish meal is the gold standard ingredient of predator fish feed. Most has only a small % of fish meal ( 7 to 12 % IIRC ). The question is how to feed it to them.

I know when we grind up menhaden(what they make most fish meal out of) for chumming in the Chesapeake Bay, we get giant schools of bait fish in the chum slick. I suspect if you put out moderate amounts the CC will suck it down, but be careful not to put too much in at a time or you'll foul the water...

Get a couple of BG and/or FHM and put them in a large tank of some kind and try it out. Be careful to not put in enough to foul the water.

Thanks for the comments, pretty much along the line of what I was going to do, some testing to see if they like it. The key is not to put in to much, as you mention. My problem will be that I put in to little, as I don't want to foul the water. Thanks again.
