I know there are those on here who are doing it with plenty of selective genitics.

BUT is there a suggested stocking system for growing jumbo perch. Here in MN, the YP do not seem to get very large in natural lakes, because they seem to be too tastee to walleyes and NP.

I have always thought I wanted to manage for big bass, but am worried about fishing too much and really hook shying my fish. Besides the 60 acre lake I currently live on is producing nice numbers and size of LMB, and by harvesting NP, believe we are improving this lake year after year.

So on my future ponds, I am changing to YP as I love to eat them, and jumbo ones are a HOOT to catch too.

The lakes that do have nice YP always seem to be full of fresh water shrimp. How do you get them started? Here is a link from years ago, with good discussion on "scuds"

Having SMB would be a bonus, but do they help or reduce numbers of YP too much if the goal is YP?

Thanks much.
