I have 1 inch perch working the bottom picking at stuff as they go by. Are these baby RES or another type. They have a distinctive perch shape but I can not get close enough to see them well. I stocked 2-3 inch RES in April along with 3-5 inch CNBG.

I am guess when you say perch you are referring to members of the sunfish family and not yellow perch? I still get confused with all the local names of fish!
It is really hard to tell whether they are RES or CNBG... But if your RES were 2-3" in April, they were probably a bit on the small size to have spawned. However, 3-5" CNBG would be large enough to spawn, so I would put my money on the little buggers being baby CNBG. If you can net a couple and take a photograph, we can confirm or deny my suspicion.

BG will feed on the bottom as well just not nearly as much as RES do. Just like RES will occasionally feed on the surface but not like BG do. It is neat to watch small school of young BG or RES forage. They just swim along and kind stop peck at something and then continue on... I could watch them for hours!
