Don't really know where most of the local bats spend the day. Seen one crammed into a gap in my vinyl siding and a couple took up residence in the foldede umbrella near the pond (until I disturbed them a couple times by openning the umbrella on sunny days). Built a bat box of my own design - we'll see how it works. I also enjoy watching the barn and tree swallows at dawn and dusk. They are quite the acrobats. The barn swallows have quite a colony in an old barn on our farm. They are not allowed in the new barn. They are fun to watch, but make quite the mess below their nests.
