I'm not sure of the accuracy of this statement, but my contractor used to be the conservation agent at the NRCS a number of years ago. During a conversation, he mentioned use of the strip maps to identify wetlands. I think I remember him saying that they would be marked with "W" for wetlands, and "AW" for artificial wetlands. I got my strip maps with a phone call to the NRCS office secretary. I regret that other threads that you have recently initiated indicate difficulty in NRCS cooperation. I have often used adjacent government agencies (next county) when I wanted to try to crack the code of the focus county.
When there's "dirty laundry" next door, you can often get the neighbor to tell you what size underwear is hangin' on the line.
