Mowing paths where you walk is also a very good way to avoid ticks as they tend to sit on tall grass and weeds waiting for a passing meal. If I had that many ticks, I'd still spray. However, I have this option, where you would (and should) have to hire this out. The ginnea fowl solution might also help, if you don't have too many preditors. Mine were just food for the coyotes, mink and hawks.
