My dad used to race cars at Summit Point years ago. My police department used to do all their driver's training there before they built their own driver's training facility. Lots of fun can be had there and it is all legal!

At 156 how the heck did he catch up to you? I'll bet it was a smaller town, cars like that, the cops know who owns them! A while back (mid 80's) I was clipping along at a 3 digit speed when the Escort started yelling at me, I hammered the brakes and then saw the state trooper coming towards me (Rt.30, divided highway with a wide flat grassy median). The car didn't have a factory paint job, and the body had a few mods done to it. I knew I was toast, so I pulled over, got out, and waited for him. The first thing that he said was "I'm glad that you stopped because I have no idea what kind of car this is." I figured that I couldn't out run a radio and the car DID stand out, so why try? He said he couldn't get a radar lock on me, but he knew I was clipping along pretty good. He wrote me up for 9 over and let me go. Whew!! '81 Camaro Z28, .060 over 350 in it, 12.5:1, (yeah I had to run race gas in it ALL the time). Best quarter mile time was 9.42@ 147 with 4:56 gears. When I drove it on the street I swapped the pig for 3:00 gears (Ford 9") Power windows, Power locks, T-Tops. For a street legal car it was pretty quick for it's time. The blue bottle in the trunk helped a bunch! I don't know what it'd do flat out in 5th (Doug Nash 5-speed), but the computer said 200+. Like Rainman, I did have it in excess of 100 over the speed limit, and the passenger (Air Force Colonel) tried like Hell to leave fingerprints in the roll cage. I told him that I only took it thru 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and there were still 2 more gears to go..... I had connections at the time and ran Goodyear Indy Car rain tires on the street (well, while not quite 100% street legal they DID have tread on them!) The car was more of a road race theme than drag race.

Cars are very interesting... I just don't know much about them. If I was a millionaire and had all the time in the world I'd love to get into them. I barely have enough time to do the things I enjoy now let alone throwing in another hobby of cars.

The nicest sports car I ever pulled over at work... Driver wasn't even speeding. Just decided to never get his car registered and his driver's license was suspended. This is why State Troopers shouldn't goof off and drive really fast for no reason! I'll leave all the gory bloody pictures of accidents out...

I barely have enough time to do the things I enjoy now let alone throwing in another hobby of cars. That's why the Camaro is sitting on the trailer with a rod sticking out thru the side of the block. I pushed a little too hard on the go pedal and the nitrous kicked in at too low of an RPM, it backfired thru the carb and then it started making a whole bunch of noise! I've got a brand new (well, 3,000 miles on it) GM Crate motor 454 to drop in, but I'd really, really like to plop in a lightweight 632. CJ: If the guy had enough $$ to afford that car, why the he.. not sticker it?

CJ: If the guy had enough $$ to afford that car, why the he.. not sticker it? That's a good question, one I asked and he had no answer that made any sense. As I recall it was something like I never got around to it...
